We’ll forgive you if these OpusX releases have gotten too confusing to keep track of. Here’s what you need to know about the *deep breath in* Arturo Fuente Aged Selection FFOX Heaven and Earth Tauros the Bull Natural cigar.
Tauros is part of the Heaven and Earth series, which means it uses some of the most selected aged tobaccos in the Fuente family vaults. OpusX already gets the pick of the field for blends in the line, but Heaven and Earth go to another level. It’s safe to say that these leaves are the best of the best that the company has to offer – the stuff that would have been reserved for private consumption if people had not been willing to pay a pretty penny to get Fuente’s finest.
OpusX itself is well known. It’s a cult-hit Dominican blend that was among the first to pioneer the use of DR tobacco as a wrapper leaf. Cigar Aficionado blessed OpusX as the Cigar of the Year in 2005, and people have been buying it out of stock ever since. Its rich and complex flavor profile is unmistakable and irreplaceable, it seems.
As a result, the Fuentes have created a number of special editions, which can get confusing. Tauros the Bull goes in a group with Purple Rain, BBMF, Rare Black, and Scorpio, which brings us to the inspiration for the name. While Scorpio celebrated founding patriarch Arturo’s astrological sign, Tauros is a nod to the sign of both Don Carlos and Carlito Fuente.
